Otters' Haunt is a little bit of paradise situated on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. The guesthouse, cottage and bush camp offer comfortable home from home self-catering accommodation ideal for families and groups of nature lovers and adventurers. Activities include fly fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, Vredefort Dome tours, hiking, bird watching and mountain biking. Only 1 hour from Johannesburg, 2km from Parys in the Vredefort Dome Otters' Haunt offers a quiet and friendly retreat on the banks of the Vaal River. Protected by the many island channels, nature is on your doorstep. The Otters' Den guest house, cottage or bush cabins are ideal for travelers, fly fisher people, friends and family get-togethers, corporate sessions, mini-conferences, teambuilding and lazy getaways. If you are looking for trails advice, maps & GPS, and access to off-road trails in the Vredefort Dome (home of the Crater Cruise) look no further than Otters’ Haunt. We have mapped a whole series of off-road MTB trails in the Dome Bergland and the highveld grassland of the nearby plains. Among the routes are: • Heritage Hills (jeep tracks, cattle tracks), a trail which takes you up to a breathtaking view of the crater. • Inlandsee, a salt-pan filled with water in summer where migrant flamingos are seen, centre of the crater. • Tweezer Rocks, ascents and descents on koppies and then around the Parys airfield • And many more! Trails vary in length and difficulty. We provide map briefings and tickets of entry to closed farmlands. We have a bushcamp and a riverside guest house for accommodation.
