The Zoutspruit game camp may be viewed either by vehicle
or by hiking through the camp. Viewing the game camp by vehicle will only
introduce visitors to the most prominent species. Hiking though offers a unique
eco-tourism experience.
It has only been in the last few years that the
significance of the rugged outcrops of rock that surround the small Free State
town of Vredefort has been realized. In fact since the age of satellite imagery
came about the vastness of an impact that happened 2,0023 million years ago
becomes apparent. A meteorite estimated to 10-15 km in diameter crashed into
the earth, the largest impact yet discovered on our planet.
The species of game to be found in the park include zebra, springbok, eland, gemsbok, impala, bontebok, duiker, steenbok, black wildebeest, tsesebe & bird watching.
